1:30 PM - 4:00 PM ORA#01: Sponsored Projects Overview I

The Office of Research Administration (ORA) and Sponsored Programs Accounting and Compliance (SPAC) are committed to providing guidance to the university community on federal, state, and university policies and regulations for sponsored research. To enhance this effort, our two offices have combined to offer a series of courses, each intended to give a deeper understanding of a specific aspect of contract and grant administration. For more information on the Certificate Program, go to www.ora.umd.edu/training/certificate-program.

Certificate Program courses may be taken in any order, and you may choose to take as many or as few as you like. Course modules are offered at least once a year. Class 01 - Sponsored Projects Overview I - covers the following topics:

  • Getting Started
  • Successfully Getting Through the System: ORA to OCGA
  • Documentation
  • Grant/Contract Negotiation and Acceptance

Previous versions of the course material can be found at www.ora.umd.edu/training/certificate-program/course-material

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Hands-on Learning and Makerspaces: How to Implement a Culture of Creativity in Your Library! (UMD Library Staff Only)
Core Competencies:  Customer Service / Technology

About This Session:  In the 21st century there has been a resurgence of the DIY movement and many libraries are incorporating makerspaces into their organizations. Creative spaces can encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration and provide an opportunity to bring individuals together who might not otherwise connect with the library.

This webinar will include a review of makerspaces found in academic and public libraries, as well as provide practical examples of pop-up making spaces. Pop-up making spaces can be a low cost opportunity to create new partnership, as well as an impactful solution to implementing a culture of creativity within your organization.
