2:30 PM - 4:00 PM Webinar: Leading With Emotional Intelligence (UMD Libraries Staff Only)
Core Competencies:  Leadership & Supervisory/Management

The term emotional intelligence has been written about so much over the past few years that you might start to wonder if it’s a passing fad. However, when it comes to managing people, as individuals or as members of an entire organization, it remains one of the most potent skills a manager can have.  Join us to learn about the four elements of the emotional intelligence framework (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management), and how their component parts play a critical role in effective library leaders.  After viewing this webinar, attendees will be able to:

- Clearly understand the concepts underlying emotional intelligence
- Define the four elements of emotional intelligence and how they apply to leadership
- Develop personal strategies for increasing your own emotional intelligence
- Understand how you can apply emotional intelligence to become a better library leader

This webinar will help participants increase their competency in emotional intelligence, one of LLAMA’s 14 foundational leadership competencies [ ] .
Who Should Attend:  Library leaders at all levels who want an introduction to emotional intelligence; those wanting to know how to develop their emotional intelligence skills.

Facilitators:  Jason Martin, Associate Dean, Middle Tennessee State University
